About the Organization
Urja Trust is a Mumbai-based grassroots nonprofit supporting young women (18–35) who have experienced homelessness, violence, or systemic marginalization. We create safe and empowering spaces for survivors to access justice, health, livelihood, and civil rights, while engaging with systems and communities to promote gender-transformative behaviors and approaches. Our work is rights-based, trauma-informed, and guided by human rights and intersectional principles.

Role and Key Responsibilities
The Program Manager drives the integration of interventions addressing gender-based violence, holistic health, legal support, and rehabilitation. They center survivor experiences and rights to ensure services are responsive, dignified, and effective.
- Supervise and coordinate social workers, caseworkers, and mental health and legal professionals, ensuring survivor-centric, trauma-informed, and rights-based interventions.
- Oversee program operations, including budget utilization, case allocation, and holistic care plans.
- Liaise with key stakeholders and integrate rehabilitation components into a unified, effective program delivery model.
Qualifications and Schedule
- Education Required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, or a related Humanities field.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in addressing domestic and gender-based violence, preferably within the domains of gender justice, mental health, or social justice.
